Registration is NOW OPEN for Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Baskets!

We are pleased to announce that registrations are now open for our Thanksgiving and Christmas Baskets. Space is limited and baskets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis to CLIENTS ONLY living within Carver, Chaska, Chanhassen or Victoria.

Please read the following information closely to make sure you qualify and are available on the delivery dates.
THANKSGIVING BASKETS:
  • This event is hosted by West Union Lutheran Church.
  • Deliveries will be made on Saturday, November 17th.
  • An adult MUST be home to receive the delivery between 11 am – 2 pm on November 17th.
  • Perishable foods will be delivered and we will NOT be leaving them on doorsteps or making alternate arrangements for pickup. If you are not home, you WILL NOT receive your basket and we will not hold it for you.
CHRISTMAS BASKETS:
  • This event is hosted by St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Westwood Community Church, and Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church.
  • Deliveries will be made on Saturday, December 15th.
  • An adult MUST be home to receive the delivery between 10 am – 1 pm on December 15th.
  • Perishable foods will be delivered and we will NOT be leaving them on doorsteps or making alternate arrangements for pickup. If you are not home, you WILL NOT receive your basket and we will not hold it for you.

Clearinghouse Volunteers Needed – English and Spanish speaking

Volunteers are needed to help staff our Clearinghouse Help Line! Ability to speak Spanish is a plus!

 

Volunteers answer telephone requests for help, listen, assess and analyze the caller’s needs, and then make appropriate referrals to our various ministries that meet those needs.  Volunteers serve as a source of encouragement to our clients when they call, instilling value and purpose and listening without judgment.

Responsibilities include:
– Complete training
– Maintain client confidentiality
– Complete intakes with new clients
– Identify needs and possible sources of help
– Maintain accurate client records
Qualifications:
– Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agreement with the Apostles’ Creed
– Ability to commit to one 2.5 hour shift each week (flexible)
– Discernment, non-judgmental attitude and the ability to listen, empathize, and accept others
– Ability to learn new skills as needed
– Ability to speak Spanish is a bonus
