Give Your Furniture New Life!

Every day, Carver County residents throw away gently used home furnishings that have the potential to change a family’s life! Please consider donating your gently used home furnishings to our FurniShare ministry. The following items are currently on our “most needed” list:

  • Twin mattresses and box springs
  • Twin metal bed frames
  • Nightstands
  • Coffee tables and end tables
  • Countertop microwaves

Donations must be clean and in good condition. Please call FurniShare at (952) 974-7829 to make arrangements to have your items picked up (a $25 fee does apply to cover fuel costs) or drop them off during normal business hours. (FurniShare, 7890 Market Boulevard, Chanhassen).

 

School Locker Ministry – Winter Gear Needed!

The School Locker Ministry hosted by our partner church, Discovery United Methodist, has an urgent need for winter wear for children and families in Eastern Carver County. Since the snow has started flying, their inventory has also been flying out the door! The following items are needed urgently:

  • Toddler sized snow boots
  • Kid sized snow boots
  • Women’s snow boots
  • Men’s snow boots
  • Women’s coats – size large
  • Men’s coats – size medium
  • Girls’ coats – size XL
  • Boys’ coats – size XL

Items can be dropped off at Discovery United Methodist Church, 275 Lake Drive East, Chanhassen, MN on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays between 9 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Clearinghouse Volunteers Needed – English and Spanish speaking

Volunteers are needed to help staff our Clearinghouse Help Line! Ability to speak Spanish is a plus!

 

Volunteers answer telephone requests for help, listen, assess and analyze the caller’s needs, and then make appropriate referrals to our various ministries that meet those needs.  Volunteers serve as a source of encouragement to our clients when they call, instilling value and purpose and listening without judgment.

Responsibilities include:
– Complete training
– Maintain client confidentiality
– Complete intakes with new clients
– Identify needs and possible sources of help
– Maintain accurate client records
Qualifications:
– Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agreement with the Apostles’ Creed
– Ability to commit to one 2.5 hour shift each week (flexible)
– Discernment, non-judgmental attitude and the ability to listen, empathize, and accept others
– Ability to learn new skills as needed
– Ability to speak Spanish is a bonus
